Faculty research shines at Pediatric Academic Societies

Children’s of Mississippi was well-represented at the recent Pediatric Academic Societies meeting in Denver, presenting three platform sessions and five posters. Two faculty members served as panel chairs, and one Children’s of Mississippi presentation was a highlighted theme panel session.
“We had an unprecedented showing that brought positive recognition to the institution,” said Dr. Mobolaji Famuyide, chief of the Division of Newborn Medicine. “Although our team has always had a strong showing at the PAS, this level of representation and recognition is a first for the division.”
Dr. Pradeep Alur and Dr. Norma Ojeda, Dr. Abhay Bhatt, Dr. Lir-Wan Fan and Dr. Carolyn Glendye, and Famuyide shared information in platform sessions, and Alur and Famuyide were panel chairs. Famuyide presented a highlighted theme session, and posters were presented by research groups led by Dr. Jagdish Desai, Dr. Nilesh Dankhara, Alur and Famuyide.
“The high point was the sessions chaired by Dr. Famuyide and Dr. Alur,” said Dr. Abhay Bhatt, professor and director of research in the Division of Neonatology. “It is essential to recognize contributions from all team members, including but not limited to the research coordinator team led by Heather Williams, all faculty members, fellows, NNPs, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, as well as institutional support. Our success at PAS highlighted an element of what we do to achieve the Children's of Mississippi's goal to help Mississippi kids live strong, healthy lives.”
Famuyide agreed. “The entire team contributed to the feat in their own way through acts of service,” she said. “It truly takes a village.”
